Advanced Technology at Coleman Opticians
We have some of the latest digital imaging equipment to improve our eye examination and contact lens service.
Retinal Camera Allows us to take full colour photographs of the retina (at the back of the eye)

A Digital Fundus Camera and an Photograph of the Retina
This is viewed on a computer screen and saved on computer for comparison with photographs taken in the future to help spot or monitor any changes - particularly important in monitoring glaucoma and diabetic patients.
Digital Slit lamp

Digital Slit Lamp and a photograph of cataract
This allows us to take photographs of the cornea and front areas of the eye - important in monitoring changes in the eye in contact lens wearers and cataract etc
Corneal Topographer This machine produces a map of the cornea – the front surface of the eye – where different colours represent different corneal curvatures. The plot below shows a patient with astigmatism where the cornea is steeper (red colours) vertically and flatter (greens and blues) horizontally. To fit properly any contact lens designed should take this asymmetry into account.

Corneal Topographer and a Topographer plot showing astigmatism
This helps us to more accurately design and fit rigid contact lenses and monitor abnormal corneal conditions such as kerataconus. |
