This is the basic type of lens with one focus only suitable for distance, near or intermediate vision.
Thin lenses Single vision lenses can be made thinner in several different ways
Aspheric Designs - Standard spherical lenses have the same spherical curve across the entire lens. Aspheric lenses use non- spherical curves which flatten towards the edge of the lens. Greatest beneficial effect is with positive power prescriptions
High Index - normal plastic lenses have a refractive index of 1.5. The higher the refractive index the more the light is 'refracted' (or bent) and the thinner the lens can be for the same power. Greatest beneficial effect is with minus power prescriptions.
Individualised Designs - the 'tailor-made' option for the ultimate single vision lens. Extra measurements are made of your frame and face to design a bespoke lens with the best optical performance for you. These lenses are aspheric and made from high index materil to give you the thinnest and lightest lens. |
