Contact Lens Fitting

Coleman Opticians

If you have not had eye examination (for spectacles) within the last year you will need to do so prior to having contact lenses fitted.

It is useful to tell the Receptionist that this is an eye examination "prior to contact lens fitting". For patients who have recently been tested with a current spectacle prescription a brief appointment will be made, where we will discuss your needs and make initial recommendations to obtain the correct trial contact lenses for your fitting appointment.

Your fitting appointment can last up to 1½ hours. Your eyes will be examined in minute detail and additional measurements will be made. You will be fitted with a pair of suitable contact lenses and wear these for about 30 minutes or so to experience contact lens wear.

When you return further measurements and assessments are made to enable the precise lenses to be ordered. We will discuss your suitability and make further recommendations. If you decide to proceed with contact lenses, you will need a collection appointment, when you will be instructed on how to handle and care for your lenses.

Aftercare appointments following this are usually required at 2-6 weeks, 3 months and 6 months and regularly thereafter.
